Unscheduled closings of the School may occur in advance of a school day or during a school day.
In case of a closure in advance of a school day, or in the case of inclement weather, you can access information regarding school closing through:
- The School’s website: www.chds.org. The information will be on the front page of the site.
- Arecorded message on the School’s answering machine: (202)547-2244
- Radio stations WGMS (FM 104.1) or WTOP (AM 820, FM 103.5).
In case of an unscheduled closing during the school day, while children are in attendance at the School, information will be relayed through:
- The website: http://www.chds.org/.
- A phone call, either through the class telephone tree or an emergency calling service.
Note: School personnel will remain at the School until all children are picked up. If the school bus service is cancelled, special transportation arrangements will be made for bus riders.
Please note that Capitol Hill Day School makes decisions about weather-related closings or delays independent of any other school or district. While we no longer rely on parent phone chains for school closings announced prior to the beginning of the school day, we will activate the phone chains if there is an unscheduled closing during the school day.
