The admissions process begins in the fall and finishes in March, when families are notified about admission decisions.  Our major entry point is Prekindergarten, where we admit approximately 25 new children each year. (Please note, to be eligible for Prekindergarten, a child must turn 4 by October 1 of his or her starting year.)  In addition, one to four spaces are generally available in Kindergarten through Grade 8.  Depending on attrition, this number may vary from year to year.  If you are interested in applying for Grades K through 8, please call Priscilla Lund, Admissions Director, at 202-386-9920 to discuss availability.  

The first step in the application process is to visit the school, either during one of our Open House events or on a small group tour.  Information Sessions are listed on the Admissions Calendar and reservations are required.  If you prefer, small group tours are also offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from October through mid-December.  Please email us at admissions@chds.org to arrange for an appointment.
