Dear Capitol Hill Day School families and friends,
The school year is in full swing and classrooms are teeming with excitement, providing a caring and thoughtful environment for learning, and overflowing into our city campus. We are reminded of why we chose Capitol Hill Day School for our families; how we inherited this place from the families who came before us; and of our part in the traditions of philanthropy and community that have sustained CHDS for the last 41 years.
We hope that you will join us as we turn our energy toward the Capitol Hill Day School Annual Fund. You may already know that tuition covers only part of the cost of educating a child at CHDS, while the Annual Fund helps to provide the balance. Annual operating funds help to maintain the diversity of our community through financial aid, the rigorous academic program through faculty professional development, and the quality of our facilities and teaching tools through proper maintenance and critical improvements. For example,
- $100 - $250 can provide several new library books, new teaching tools for our science program, or athletic equipment for physical education
- $500 covers the cost of a day trip to one of our exciting Field Education Program destinations
- $1000 covers the cost of a professional development opportunity for a member of the faculty, enabling CHDS to remain on the cutting edge of teaching and learning
Our goal this year is $175,000, and we are striving for an equally important 100% parent participation goal. We are pleased to report that the Board of Trustees has already met its goal of 100% participation, raising nearly $40,000. This is a tremendous start and a clear signal of the collective confidence in the School's potential this year! We hope that you'll join us and make a contribution. It will take gifts at all levels to realize our goal, so we appreciate your thoughtful consideration and enthusiastic support.
Many thanks and warm regards,
Jamie Tolson and David Tolson & Maggie Daley and Jeremy Wiley
