Capitol Hill Day School has offered exciting summer camp programs for over twenty years. The Summer Camp provides children from 4 to 14 years old an opportunity to take part in age-appropriate, engaging activities with friends. The camp includes seven one-week sessions, each with a variety of programs, running from mid-June through the first week of August.
The fundamental ingredients of the Summer Camp come from the School’s academic program. Because of its commitment to field education as an integral part of the curriculum, Capitol Hill Day School has buses, the staff who drive them all over the metropolitan area, and educators who think creatively about how the resources of a city can enhance any subject, whether it’s academic or summer fun.
Many of the Camp counselors are Capitol Hill Day School faculty, former faculty, and After School Program staff. They all possess unique interests, talents, expertise, and qualifications that they bring to the various Summer Camp programs they lead. Each camp program includes two counselors, and the number of campers in each group is limited to 15, 20, or 25, depending on the program.

To help campers escape the summer heat, the programs also include trips to swimming pools and water parks. While in the School’s buildings, campers enjoy the comforts of air-conditioned spaces.
Programs are carefully planned with the age of campers in mind. Bunny camps serve four-, five-, and six-year olds. Junior camps are planned for children entering second through fourth grades, and Senior camps are designed for young people entering grades five through eight.
The camp day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Extended care is available from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
