We are delighted that you are interested in applying to Capitol Hill Day School!
Capitol Hill Day School is an independent, progressive school serving children in grades PreK through 8th grade. The School is located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, in historic buildings in a diverse and vibrant neighborhood that serves as an extended classroom for our students to explore.
We anticipate an exciting school year ahead, with Capitol Hill Day School's middle school program expanding into nearby Farren’s Stable (218 D St. SE) in 2019. The space is being designed with middle school learners in mind, and will include flexible spaces for students to collaborate and socialize in large and small groups. We see this growth as a unique opportunity to design a new space explicitly tailored to enhance our program.
This year, the School is also celebrating its 50th birthday. This milestone is an opportunity to celebrate the growth and innovation that are rooted in our mission and philosophy. As it was 50 years ago, Capitol Hill Day School remains a school for children, allowing students to take age-appropriate risks, and learn essential collaboration and critical thinking skills. We remain proud of our close-knit community, our project-based approach to teaching and learning, and our continued emphasis on social justice.
Graduates of Capitol Hill Day School are self-advocates and confident learners who thrive in a wide variety of high schools and colleges, and give back to their communities. We invite you to come visit, apply, and envision your child growing here. We look forward to getting to know your family.
