Tuition & Accessibility

All financial assistance applicants must complete the Clarity Application for financial aid. Parents who own their own business are required to submit the appropriate business returns as well.

To get started, please go to the Clarity Application and create an account. This application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile friendly, and you are able to save your progress and return anytime. At the end of the application, there's a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge.  Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools.

For new students, families will be notified of financial assistance awards via email along with their admissions decision in early March. Families who are already enrolled at the School are notified of their financial assistance awards in late February. 

Yes. You can expect to receive the same percentage of assistance, but we ask families to reapply as financial situations may change from year to year. Your award would only be adjusted to accommodate a drastic change in your financial situation. 

Financial assistance awards are need-based grants that require no repayment. Financial assistance awards can range from $2,500 to up to 85% of the tuition. The average award is approximately $15,000.

No. We do not provide merit-based scholarships or accept funds/scholarships from external organizations.

All of the financial assistance awards at Capitol Hill Day School are need-based. Clarity processes the information you provide on the parents’ financial statement to determine what you can afford to pay for your child’s education. Clarity balances income, assets, liabilities, family size, and the number of children you have in schools that charge tuition against taxes and living costs in making its recommendation. The School uses the Clarity recommendation to determine the award amount needed to offset the cost of tuition. 

Yes. Families may spread their tuition payments throughout the academic year, and tuition payments can be made in one, two, ten, or twelve installments.  More detailed information about payment options is available upon acceptance.

Yes. Families receive the same percentage of financial assistance toward Summer Camp and the base cost of our After School Program as they do for tuition.

We expect both parents to provide financial information and to contribute to the cost of their child’s education. Parents who find themselves in unusual circumstances should contact the Admissions Office.
