Parent Involvement
Volunteering at Capitol Hill Day School is an enriching learning experience for parents and students. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities, adaptable to any schedule.
Admissions Events: Contact the Director of Admissions (202-386-9920) to serve as a tour guide, help out with admission mailings, host a coffee/reception, help with an Early Childhood visit day, call prospective parents and answer questions, or represent Capitol Hill Day School at local admission fairs.
Homeroom Parents: Be the key liaison between School and parents. Solicit parent volunteers to coordinate various classroom activities and responsibilities. Contact the Director of Admissions (202-386-9920).
Community Service Committee: Capitol Hill Day School's Community Service Committee organizes projects that take advantage of our School's adult network to benefit our greater community and provide a positive model for our children. Parent participation is the key to the success of this Committee's activities. The Community Service Committee meets about four times during the academic year. New members and their ideas are welcome! Please contact your homeroom parent with any questions.
Field Education Program: Do you or someone you know have a special skill or talent related to some aspect of our curriculum? Contact Lisa Sommers, Field Education Coordinator (202-386-9906). Learn more about our Field Education Program here!
Library Assistance: Please contact Librarian Sylvie Shaffer if you are interested in helping children select and check out library books and keeping the bookshelves organized.
