Founders' Day — A day of Service to Celebrate our Community

SATURDAY, JANUARY 8, 2022 | 9:30 - 11:00 AM

Saturday, January 8th is our Fourth Annual Founders’ Day! This day of service was originally developed to bring our community together around the day of our incorporation to celebrate our School's founding. We invite all of our current families, alumni families, and anyone part of our Capitol Hill Day School community to participate from home. This year we will be making trail mix and muffins for Martha's Table. Founders' Day Schedule

9:30 AM

Join us on Zoom for a brief event kick-off. A Zoom link will be on the current family calendar and shared by email on Friday, January 7. 

9:45 AM

Drop off trail mix and/or muffins at CHDS in front of the Dent building. Please make sure to bring the completed card found in your information packet. (Packets will be delivered by backpack after Winter Break.)

Join the Families in Partnership Association (FiPA) in Garfield Park to continue the Founder's Day celebration! From 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, warm up with hot cocoa, participate in a favorite CHDS PE game, and lend a hand to help clean up the park. Hope to see you there!

Project Details

This year, Capitol Hill Day School will be making trail mix and muffins for Martha's Table. Trail mix and muffins will be served on McKenna's Wagon, which distributes warm meals, sandwiches, and healthy snacks every evening in DC. 

Make Trail Mix — Fill snack sized bags with your favorite combination! Granola, raisins, Chex and a seed or nut are some favorites. Click here for some ideas from Martha's Table. 

Bake Muffins  Bake and individually packaged muffins to be served on McKenna's Wagon. 

We also need two parents to deliver food to Martha's Table on Monday, January 10. The drop off location is a 10 minute drive from Capitol Hill Day School.

We ask that you please wear a gloves when preparing food items. Please contact Shannon Ryan by January 5 at if you need gloves for food preparation. 

After dropping off your items at the Dent building, please join FiPA for a community gathering in Garfield Park.
