Founders' Day — A day of service to celebrate our community
SATURDAY, JANUARY 9, 2021 | 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Saturday, January 9th is our Third Annual Founders’ Day. This day of service was originally developed to bring our community together around the day of our incorporation to celebrate our School's founding. As with all our events this school year, we are adapting. We invite all our families, alumni families, and anyone part of our Capitol Hill Day School community to participate from home. We have two projects this year and hope you and your family will take time to participate in one or both projects. One focuses on need, the other on gratitude.
Are you a Capitol Hill Day School community member who would like to participate in Founders' Day from outside the DC area? Volunteer in your community on January 9th and let us know. You can make sandwiches for a local organization, send thank you cards to a hospital, or give back to your community in a way that is meaningful to you. Please send details and/or photos to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Celebrate Founders' Day by giving back!
Please sign up to participate by Thursday, January 7.
Each year, Capitol Hill Day School provides extra lunches to Progress for Christ Baptist Church. In past years, we have typically provided over 2,000 extra lunches to be distributed to those experiencing homelessness and/or hunger in our community. Today, the demand for food is at an all time high. We are hoping to stock Vern's pantry with extra lunches and trail mix while we are in distance learning in January so she can continue to serve our neighbors in need.
Sandwiches — Consider making sandwiches - turkey, ham, nut butter and jelly. Anything is possible! Make sure to label what is in your sandwich. No mayo or condiments, please.
Trail Mix — Fill snack sized bags with your favorite combination! Granola, raisins, Chex and a seed or nut are a favorite.
We ask that you please wear a mask and gloves when preparing food items. Please contact Shannon Ryan by January 7 at email@example.com if you need gloves for food preparation.
Decorate thank you cards or write thank you notes to be sent to health care workers at local hospitals. Get creative!
